4/01/07  It appears that the stated "Time Left" in an auction listing does not match the scheduled "End Time". (5 hour discrepancy). As a result some auction listings are ending pre-maturely.
We appologize for any confusion this may cause our members and assure you all that our programmers are currently working to isolate and resolve the cause of this "glitch".

8/19/06  We are currently working on resolving a technical issue that has occurred over the last 24 hours. In the interim, many site functions had to be disabled. We apologize for this inconvenience and expect to isolate and correct the problem shortly.

7/20/06  JustBeads.com now provides sellers with the ability to list multiple photos with their auction listings.   Not only can you list an item with multiple photos, you can now go back and edit current or closed listings by adding additional photos....including a "Thumbnail" photo.

As we strive to provide you with the Best Bead Auction Site anywhere, we find that we must, from time to time, increase or add fees for the services that we provide. Although we have tried to "hold the line" on our Fee schedule, we find that we must change our fees as follows:

Basic Listing fee from $0.00 to $9.99 has been increased to $0.35

4/19/06  In our continuing efforts to provide you with the Best Bead Auction site Anywhere, the JustBeads.com site will be unavailable between 6:00AM and 8:00AM Eastern time tomorrow, 4/20/06, while we configure and install our new state of the art servers and misc hardware.

9/1/05  We now offer a variety of ad placements within our network including the placement of your standard 468x60 banner ad, (linked to your JustBeads auctions), at the top of our "Home Page", the top of each "Category" page and the top of each "Item Description page" as well as in our Monthly Newsletters. 7/5/05  As an update to the AOL notice posted on 7/1/05, we received a message from AOL this evening advising that our "Whitelist request has been approved". We expect that things should revert back to "normal" anytime now.

7/01/05  AOL has advised us that JustBead's email notifications to our AOL members have been temporarily suspended due to the high volume of e-mail JustBeads sends from our email IP address, (admin@justbeads.com), to our AOL members. Telephone calls made to their Postmaster Helpdesk at 888-212-5537, in which we attempted to explain the hardship that this recently revised email policy placed upon our AOL members, fell on "deaf" ears. AOL has advised us that provisions can be made for those who need to send large amounts of e-mail to AOL members, and they recommended that we complete an application to be placed on their "Bulk Sender List" which would allow for the possibility of sending large amounts of e-mail to AOL. They informed us that although the "Temporary Suspension" would normally be lifted after 24 hours that, since this is a holiday weekend, this may not be resolved until AFTER the holiday week-end.

Please rest assured that we are expending all of our resources to seek a speedy resolution.

We regret any inconvenience caused by AOL's disappointing e-mail policy and recommend that you make your frustrations known to them.....
If we can provide you with ANY assistance during this period, please let us know. We will be happy to assist you in every way possible!

6/06/05  Starting around 5:00AM CST this morning, we began experiencing routing issues, and we traced problems to Time Warner Telecom, one of our upstream providers. We apparently received corrupted BGP (border gateway protocol) information from their routers after some routine maintenance was performed over this past weekend.

Some IP traffic bound for our network never arrived at the proper IP address as a result.

This outage only affected some inbound routes to us, and while some services like web sites and e-mail appeared to be down or intermittently available for some users, many other users had no problems at all.

Our network has redundant equipment in place if our upstream providers experience problems, but in this case, the router in question never saw a problem in that the BGP table data it contained was incorrect. Therefore, no failover to our others systems ever took place.

As always, we strive for maximum uptime and network stability, but using this case as a perfect example, there are things that happen that are completely out of our control. Nevertheless, we apologize for any problems that this may have caused for you or your customers.

Time Warner has corrected this problem and they assure us that it is fully resolved and should not happen again.

5/22/05  We are happy to announce the addition of a new "sub-category", (Lampwork Jewelry), to our popular Artist's Beads/Lampwork category.   Enjoy.......and please remember, Artists beads and its four sub- categories: Lampwork, (with it's new sub-category of Lampwork Jewelry), Polymer, Fused Glass and Ceramic are reserved for artists that make and sell their own beads or for listing an artist's bead that you purchased and can provide the artists name in the listing.

4/1/05  We are happy to announce that JustBeads is forever changing the way you look at us!
             Effective 9:00AM, when you click on a category, you will see three (3) tabs at the top of the page:

• "All Items" - This is our default view and includes all current items listed in the category INCLUDING items that have been previously listed by their respective sellers and did not sell the 1st time around.   There are many many wonderful treasures here that we are sure you won't want to miss!
• "New Items" - If you prefer to view current listings EXCLUDING items that have been previously listed by their sellers, just click on this tab.
• "Buy Now" - If you would rather buy an item instantly without waiting for the listing to end, we're certain you will love this tab!

1. Add "Buy Now" fee $0.05 cents per listing
2. Add "Reserve Auction" fee $0.25 cents per listing
3. Increase "Final Sale" fee from 5.00% to 5.25% of the amount of the high bid (at the auction close) up to $25.00
4. Increase "Final Sale" fee from 2.50% to 2.75% of the high bid from $25.01 up to $1,000.00

7/28/04  Effective Immediately, The minimum auction duration has been changed to Two (2) Days.
The option to list auctions for only One (1) day has been discontinued and will no longer be available.
For sellers who wish to offer shorter auction duration lengths to their customers, we provide the "Buy it Now" feature at no additional charge.

Effective Immediately,   The $20.00 credit limit that we provide to sellers who do not maintain a credit card on file with us, has been lowered to $10.00.
For your convenience, JustBeads provides UNLIMITED listing privledges without the restraints of the above "limit" to all sellers who maintain a credit card on file with us. 3/21/04  Prior to midnight on 3/19/04 the JustBeads.com site became a target of a virus that overloaded our servers with false traffic. As a result we experienced some technical difficulty that caused some hard outage/down time while our programmers and support personnel worked around the clock to isolate and correct the problem. Our servers are now back on line and the JustBeads site and all of it's features are now functioning just fine. Unfortunately, in order to preserve the integrity of the site, we were forced to use a Backup/Restore from 3/18/04. As a result, all site activity that took place between 3/19/04 and early this morning 3/21/04 were not posted to the database.
We understand that many of you have lost photos and auction listings. We apologize for the inconvenience this has caused you.
Effective IMMEDIATELY, JustBeads will waive ALL listing fees for the period of ONE WEEK. In addition ALL final value fees will also be waived for a ONE WEEK period to show our appreciation for your understanding. This should provide sufficient time to review your listings and list anew as necessary. Please review any items that may reside on your "Bulk Re-list" pages to make certain that they have photos before relisting them. For those sellers who were not affected....you too may list free of charge during this period. We urge everyone to take advantage of this offer and once again, offer our apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused you.

12/21/03  In our continuing efforts to bring you the best Bead Auction site anywhere, we are upgrading our outgoing email formats. Due to the continuing onslaught of "spam" email that ISP's throughout the internet are subject to, there is a continuing effort on their part to update their spam blocking software. It therefore becomes necessary for us to adjust how our e-mail "headers" are formatted from time to time. Our programmers have been working on our email formats over the last several days, and this may cause a sporadic failure in our outgoing email notifications. We regret any inconvenience this may have caused you. If you need any assistance with your closed auctions, just let us know and we will be happy to provide you with whatever support you require.

1/25/03  This weekend a new worm virus has been causing Internet Service Providers networks to experience packet loss, latency and intermittent losses of connectivity to the Internet as a result of this Distributed Denial of Service (DDOS) attack.
This worm attacks Microsoft SQL servers that have not been patched for this vulnerability and are not filtering packets to UDP port 1434.  All of JustBeads's SQL servers have been patched and the port firewalled and have therefore not been affected.
Although our servers and network have not been affected, your ISP's may be having major issues with this virus and you may have problems reaching your e-mail and websites.

12/14/02  Recently, scammers have sent bogus emails to customers of various online sites or services requesting that customers verify billing records by providing social security numbers, credit card numbers, birth dates, mothers' maiden names and driver's license numbers.   The return address of the emails were forged to look like they were being sent from a legitimate account at the online site, and the emails used the logo and look and feel of the site.  By following the directions in the email, the unsuspecting victim was actually giving away his confidential information to the scammer.

12/06/02  Due to the recent ice storm in the South Eastern section of the country, both Sprint and Time Warner have experienced some outages and network slow downs.  Your Internet Service Provider may directly or indirectly connect to Sprint or Time Warner, as a result, some of you may be having intermittent difficulty accessing various Internet web sites,and their feature functions, including those of JustBeads.com. Our technicians have been in contact with both Sprint and Time Warner and have been informed that the problem should be corrected shortly.

9/09/02  Beginning sometime last night, Sprint had a serious core routing issue that affected our connectivity to the Internet.  Although we run BGP to another tier one service provider, (Time Warner), Sprint's problem confused our core router to the point that it did not "fail over" to Time Warner.
Sprint has informed us this morning that the problem is corrected and all systems are running properly again.  We are sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused our customers.

8/27/02 - 6:00PM  We have corrected the glitch that was causing User Feedback to be reflected incorrectly as "Negative". All Feedback has been re-set to reflect correctly. In addition, we also took care of the bug that was causing "thumbnail" photos to disappear when you hit the "back" button during the listing process.

8/12/02  Our Technicians have advised us that as part of our continuing plan of site development and enhancements, they recently completed installing a compression utility on our servers that adds a great deal of speed for all of our users -- especially those using slow dial-up connections to the Internet.

Unfortunately, the only browser that is incompatible with this compression utility is Navigator version 4.x.   Newer versions of Navigator, however, work fine.   If you are still using Navigator 4.x, you might want to try upgrading to 6.x.   Generally speaking, it will probably result in a better experience for you not only on JustBeads.com, but on most other sites on the web as well.

8/01/02  Attention all Sellers.....
Our User Agreement states:
"Listings may only include text descriptions, graphics and pictures you supply to our site that describe the item for sale." As a general rule of thumb this means: "You may not use the listing to promote sales elsewhere."
We ask any sellers who may be unknowingly listings items in violation of our User Agreement to make the necessary adjustments on their templates / Listing format to bring their listings into conformitiy with the User Agreement.

7/18/02  We are in the process of installing software upgrades to our email client server. Apparently this is having an adverse effect on some of our outgoing end of auction notifications. Our Technicians are aware of this and are working to isolate and correct the problem.

7/07/02  In our continuing efforts to provide you with the Best Bead Auction Site anywhere, yet another upgrade has been completed. Our "Chat Forum" has been sub-divided into four separate forums. We believe this will help better organize posts, thus making it easier for everyone to better enjoy them.

2/11/02  Our technicians have advised us that they will need to temporarily disable some of the functions of the "My Auctions" page for 24 hours in order to complete an upgrade to this function that we believe will make it more responsive to the needs of our customers.
They have also informed us that they believe they have isolated the cause of the email notification problems that have plagued us all since our move, and expect to have it resolved shortly.

1/15/02  We're Baaaaaccck!!!!
Thank you for your patience while we changed our service providers. All of our "pointers" and "re-directs" are in place and working wonderfully. As a result, everyone should be able to access the NEW JustBeads.com without the need for alternate URL addresses. However, if you experience any difficulty, just let us know and we will be happy to furnish it to you. Most of the features and functions are working wonderfully, however, there is still a lot of "tweaking" that has to be done here and there, and we ask for your patience as we complete them. As soon as they are completed, we will be able to furnish you with new links for your web pages that you can use to point your customers to your current auctions here. As a side note, you may want to re-set any book marks you have made.

12/29/01  We are putting the finishing touches on a major software upgrade to the JustBeads.com Bead Auction Site. In an effort to provide our users with a faster, more reliable site, we are converting to a "Cold Fusion" format. In addition to the change in format, we will also be relocating to new more powerful and reliable servers.

Thanks to all of our wonderful users, we have outgrown our "old home". This change will take place on or about January 11, 2002, and will enable us to provide an auction site PACKED FULL of features that we have wanted to provide you with for a long time, but were unable to do within the constraints we were working with. If you think we have a great site now, "You aint seen nothin yet!" Of course, we will still be the same site when it comes to the "personal touch" we pride ourselves in. 9/28/00  For many beading is more than just a hobby. Beading represents a way of life.  As a life-affirming act, JustBeads.com in collaboration with bead artist Lisa Scenti (aka Lscenti), will host our Third annual Bead Charity Auction in conjunction with our celebration of World Bead Day.  The auction will benefit the Susan Komen Center for Breast Cancer Research and begin on Monday October 1.  The auction will run through midnight on October 31.
In addition to the Susan Komen Charity Auction, JustBeads.com will celebrate World Bead Day with the following one day promotion:
For Sellers A $20.00 account credit will be given to the SELLER who lists the most new auctions during the 24 hour period that is October 1st. (excluding re-listed SOLD and UNSOLD items).
For Buyers A prize will be given to the BUYER who places the most new bids during the 24 hour period that is October 1st. The prize will consist of a $20.00 check that will be forwarded to the winner.
Winning BUYER & SELLER will be announced on the site and will be notified via e-mail.

8/12/01  A minor "glitch" developed overnight, and as a result many of the features, (including bidding & listing), were unavailable for a brief period of  time.   We are happy to state that our technicians quickly vanquished the gremlins and everything is now working as it should.  We regret any inconvenience this may have caused.

7/21/01  We have received several e-mail messages from E-bay, Amazon & AuctionWatch,(and understand that several JustBeads.com users have also received similar messages) that say:

"Hi How are you?
I send you this file in order to have your advice
See you later.  Thanks"

There is an attachment to these messages that contains a virus.
If you receive such a message, DO NOT OPEN the file that is attached.  It contains a virus, that if not quarantined by virus detection software, will delete all ".exe" files on your hard drive.

6/06/01  We have isolated and corrected the problem we were experiencing with the re-lists. Relisted items are now being removed from the bulk re-list pages. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

6/05/01  We are in the midst of making some software changes in order to give us the ability to provide our customers with some great new things that we hope to begin unveiling in the very near future, and one of our techs forgot to dot an "i" or cross a "t". As a result, relisted items are not being removed from the bulk re-list pages. We are aware of this problem, and are working to correct it.

5/01/01  JustBeads.com is two years old this month!  We made our Internet debut on May 26, 1999.  Thank you one and all for your wonderful support as we have strived to provide you with the best bead auction site available on the Internet.  As part of our Birthday festivities, we will award the individual who has placed the most bids during the month of May with a collection of new and vintage beads and findings valued at more than $200.00.  The 2nd runner up will receive a similar collection of new and vintage beads and findings valued at more than $100.00.  The Beads and findings that will make up these prizes will be culled from the private collection of Bettina Jordan.

4/20/01  Two months to the date from our last update, we are thrilled to announce that, thanks to your phenomenal support, we have increased our numbers by a stunning 25 Percent!   Our Total current listed auctions surpassed 2,500 items, our bids are increasing at an even better rate, and our daily site Hits, Page Views, and Total Dollar sales are breaking new records each and every day!

3/23/01  We have joined FastClick as an advertising network affiliate.  Fastclick is one of the Internets largest full-service advertising networks, and we are proud to have been accepted as one of their network sites.  One advantage to our customers is that there is now a lot more variety of ads to click on.   For those of you who hate the advertising banners: keep in mind that without the financial contribution made by the advertisers we would not be able to provide the kind of support and infrastructure that we provide.   Please support our advertisers.

3/01/01  Generally speaking, "Bead" people are "Button" people too!   As an incentive to get you all to dig out those beautiful treasures, scan them and post them for auction for all to see, JustBeads.com will waive ALL basic listing fees for ALL Button listings during the month of March.   Simply provide us with a list of item numbers for each Button listing that you post, and we will credit your account for any basic listing fee associated with it.  So…Crank up that scanner…Dig out that Button Stash…and…Show Us Your Buttons!

2/23/01  For those of you who use Yahoo's "Geocities" to store your photo files for use with your auctions, please note that Yahoo has made changes to their system that "block" your photos from loading outside of the "geocities" domain.   This means that any photos that you store there can no longer be viewed at ANY auction site.   For your convenience, you can store photos for your JustBeads listings here on our servers during the listing process.

9/28/00  For many beading is more than just a hobby. Beading represents a way of life.  It is fitting that World Bead Day falls on October 1st, the beginning of Breast Cancer Awareness month.  As a life-affirming act, JustBeads.com in collaboration with bead artist Cheryl Keggan (aka DragonBeads), will host our second annual Heart Bead Charity Auction in conjunction with international World Bead Day festivities.  The auction will benefit the Susan Komen Center for Breast Cancer Research and begin on Sunday October 1.  The auction will run through midnight on October 31.
In addition to the Susan Komen Charity Auction, JustBeads.com will celebrate World Bead Day with the following one day promotion:
For Sellers A $20.00 account credit will be given to the SELLER who lists the most new auctions during the 24 hour period that is October 1st. (excluding re-listed SOLD and UNSOLD items).

8/18/00 We have just completed a software upgrade of our Chat Forum to better accommodate our growth.    Check it out today!

8/17/00  Our move into our new data center is complete. We have also increased the overall speed and responsiveness of the site through some clever behind-the-scenes programming. Combined with the speed improvements we have made, the site is now amazingly fast. We now have so much equipment that even under peak load the CPU utilization on our servers is only a tiny fraction of what is available. We have tons of room to grow in this new environment and we plan to use this by increasing our services to our customers and by continuing to attract high-quality buyers and sellers to the site.

8/12/00  For the last few days we have been having some problems with our primary web server. The symptom to the end user is a 'Server Application Error' message when you try to connect to the site.   This happened at a very bad time because all of our new equipment is at our new data center and we were not really ready to complete the move.   Unfortunately, we had no choice and were forced to cut over last night, which has caused additional problems.   When it rains, it pours...
This is the first unscheduled down time we have had in quite a few months.   Prior to this incident we had only had a few hours of total unscheduled down time this whole year.  Our site is far more stable and reliable than most.
We think that the worst is behind us and are sorry for the problems.   On the plus side, we are now in our new data center.  You should see better performance and reliability in the new data center as we finalize the system setup there.

7/8/00  Big news today!   We have crossed the 1,000 current auctions threshold.  This represents a doubling in size over the last six months, and marks a major milestone in our development.    JustBeads.com has evolved quite a bit since our doors first opened on May 26, 1999.   It is the support of you, our valued customers, that continues to make this site successful!

5/3/00 We're Baaaaaccck!!!!
Thank you for your patience while we changed our service providers.   All of our "pointers" and "re-directs" are in place and working wonderfully.   As a result, everyone should be able to access the NEW JustBeads.com without the need for alternate URL addresses.  However, if you experience any difficulty, just let us know and we will be happy to furnish it to you.  Most of the features and functions are working wonderfully, however, there is still a lot of "tweaking" that has to be done here and there, and we ask for your patience as we complete them. As soon as they are completed, we will be able to furnish you with links for your web pages that you can use to point your customers to your current auctions here.   As a side note, you may want to re-set any book marks you have made. Those of you who use AuctionPerfect to list your items will NOT be able to use their services for a few days while they reconfigure their software. A letter from you may convince them to move faster!

5/1/00 We are in the process of changing Host Providers. Thanks to all of our wonderful users, we have outgrown our "old home".  This change will take place tomorrow morning at approximately 10:00am.  This change will allow us to provide an auction site PACKED FULL of features that we have wanted to provide you with for a long time, but were unable to do within the constraints we were working with.  If you think we have a great site now, "You aint seen nothin yet!"   Of course, we will still be the same site when it comes to the "personal touch" we pride ourselves in.  We will still offer quick, friendly assistance as we have always done.   It's just that the NEW JustBeads.com will now have ALL the bells and whistles you have been asking for!
We will physically swap the data base at 10:00am sharp, and expect that it will take our technicians several hours to "crunch" the data into our new location.  During this time we will not be able to accept new bids, listings or registrations.  As a result, ALL auctions will be extended for a period of 48 hours.
They don't call it the "Web" for nothing!  As a result, it may take as much as 72 hours or more before some of you will be able to access us via our usual URL (http://www.justbeads.com). It takes this long for a new location to wend it's way through the "web" of servers and other such things that point and direct the URL to it's new home.  As a result, we will follow up with a second notice to inform you of a temporary URL you can use if you are experiencing any difficulties in accessing the JustBeads site.
Thank you again for being such great customers. We look forward to seeing you at our NEW home!.

4/9/00 We are in the midst of implementing both software and hardware upgrades, (including a re-location of our servers).  As a result, we have not been able to complete requests for credit card accounts, nor are our auction notifications being que'd, (out bid notices, closed auction notifications, winning bidder notifications etc).  The computer system will not place closed auctions into the feedback page or bulk re-list pages UNTIL e-mail notifications have gone out.

We are kind of stuck in a temporary "Catch 22" until these changes are completed.  We expect that all will be back to normal some time late this evening or early morning, and apologize for the inconvenience.

2/9/00  Our technicians have advised us that they believe they have been able to isolate the problem that has been plagueing the "FeedBack" page. Hopefully, this problem is now behind us. The staff at JustBeads.com would like to extend our thanks to you for your patience while we researched this problem.

9/11/99  Once again, you spoke and we heard you! Due to the many requests we have received from many of you, we are happy to announce that we have added a category for BUTTONS. We believe that this addition to JustBeads.com is a wonderful enhancement since many "BEAD" people are "BUTTON" people also.

8/26/99  Over the last few days we have been installing software designed to improve the quality and reliability of our servers. This software is specifically designed to reduce the potential for system "downtime". Although the software was fully tested prior to its installation, we began experiencing extended periods of "downtime" caused by this new software. These outages occurred most significantly between Thursday at 3:00pm EST and concluded at 11:15pm EST. As a result, ALL ITEMS LISTED FOR AUCTION THAT CLOSED DURING THIS TIME PERIOD HAVE BEEN EXTENDED 24 HOURS, and all resultant final sale fees have been credited to the affected sellers accounts. Please disregard all "winning bid notifications" and "closed auction notifications" that you may have received that pertain to the affected auctions. We regret any inconvenience this may have caused you, and assure you that we are diligently working to earn your continued support.

7/29/99  We are pleased to announce that Credit Card Payment Accounts are now available for those of you who prefer the convenience of credit card payment for listing/selling fees. We now accept Visa, MasterCard & American Express. If you would like to open your account just click on "Member Services" at the top of any page, then click on "create credit account". Any information you enter will be placed via a SECURE CONNECTION.
